Support for Local 252 Members at McIntosh Limousine
January 18, 2011, 4:00 PM EST
CAW Locals across the country are being urged to provide financial and picket line support for locked-out CAW members who drive for McIntosh Limousine at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.
The 200 airport limo drivers who work for McIntosh, Air Cab and Aaroport are members of CAW Local 252 and are now entering the seventh week of a lockout as they seek a first contract.
CAW President Ken Lewenza said the workers are determined to win a first contract and need the full support of all CAW locals.
"The major issues are that the company is forcing the drivers to purchase vehicle and insurance policies from them," Lewenza said. "In addition, the owner is demanding additional fees over and above what normal practice is in other limousine operations."
Cheques should be made payable to CAW Local 252 and sent to: Abbot Harvey, President, CAW Local 252, 1343 Matheson Blvd. E., Unit 12, Mississauga, Ontario, L4W 1R1.
