CAW Reaches First Tentative Agreement with Aeroplan

The CAW has reached a first tentative agreement with Aeroplan early this morning. The agreement covers 900 workers in the company's two offices in Montreal and Vancouver.
"This is a good agreement which ends many months of insecurity for our members," said CAW Local 2002 President Leslie Dias, representing workers in the transportation sector, including the airlines.
Aeroplan separated from Air Canada in June 2008. This year, workers at the new company had to decide whether to continue working at the newly independent Aeroplan or possibly going to a position at Air Canada, which at that time was threatening a return to bankruptcy protection.
Details of the agreement will be released following the ratification vote. Workers will be voting on the new deal late next week.
