CAW Local 1106 members who work for Sodexo Ltd. at the Grand River Hospital's Freeport Health Centre in Kitchener, Ontario have voted 100 per cent in favour of a first collective agreement with the CAW that provides strong wage and benefit gains.

The 60 CAW members at Sodexo, which provides housekeeping and linen services at the Freeport Health Centre, receive wage increases from $10.75 to $14.50 per hour over the life of the three-year agreement.

In addition, paid sick days, increases in paid holidays, vacation improvements and the addition of shift and weekend premiums were bargained.

Other improvements include extensive health and safety language, anti-harassment language, including the Woman's Advocate program, along with the introduction of an Employee Assistance Program.
"Since joining C.A.W. we have learned a great deal about our rights and just how much information and training is available to us. I look forward to a long and very exciting partnership," said Committee member Robert McFaul.

This is a first CAW agreement for this group of workers who voted to join CAW after leaving another union.
