CAW Local 567 members at Cision Canada in Ottawa are on strike as they resist company demands for major concessions.

Workers at Cision, a media transcription service, went on strike at 6 a.m. May 5 and set up a picket line outside the company's Ottawa facilities at I Nicholas Street, near the corner of Rideau and Nicholas.

Harry Ghadban, CAW Ottawa area director, said the company is demanding major contract concessions, including the elimination of the cost of living adjustment (COLA) clause, elimination of the bonus clause and rollbacks in severance language, sick leave as well as shift language.

Ghadban said the 25 CAW members at Cision in Ottawa are determined to win a fair and equitable agreement.

"We have no interest in bargaining rollbacks," Ghadban said. He said wages and benefits are not issues in bargaining.
