CAW Local 222 members who work at Aditya Birla Minacs in Oshawa have unanimously rejected a final offer vote forced on them by the company.
After receiving a no board report, the CAW has now set a strike date of Sunday, March 22 at midnight. These workers are support technicians who provide information to GM dealerships on warranty issues. They work in offices within GM's Canadian headquarters in Oshawa, Ontario.
The company is demanding massive concessions from the 19 workers in this bargaining unit, said CAW national representative Keith Osborne.
"Despite the company's concession demands and a barrage of anti-union propaganda couriered to workers homes during collective bargaining, CAW members unanimously rejected the company's final offer," Osborne said. "It's time for Minacs to get back to the bargaining table."
