The CAW will be donating $40,000 to Computers for Kids, a program which refurbishes old and used computers in Windsor-Essex.

The donation will take place this morning at 11 a.m. at the Computers for Kids office located at:

4150 Sandwich Street

Windsor, Ontario

The program was started in 2004 by a group of volunteers from CAW Local 200. Computers for Kids refurbishes donated computer equipment and then works in partnership with a number of community organizations to provide an educational opportunity to children who don't have access to this technology outside of school.

Each day the program gives hundreds of children from low income families the chance to learn computer skills.

The $40,000 is a donation from the union's Social Justice Fund, an employer- paid initiative first negotiated in 1990 which allows the union to fund social justice projects in Canada and around the globe.
