Collective Bargaining (1-week)
Want to strengthen your negotiation skills and learn more about the union's bargaining priorities? This course focuses on the importance of contract language, preparation and research, leadership, and maximizing your bargaining power by developing a strategic approach to bargaining. Participants in this program will come away with a wide range of skills: drafting contract language, costing the package, figuring out COLA, reading company financial statements, analyzing our bargaining power, building strong bargaining committees and more.
The centerpiece of this updated course is a mock bargaining process -- electing a committee, determining priorities and making demands, communicating with the membership, developing strategy, negotiating wages, benefits and working conditions, and ratifying an agreement.
Every local union needs a strong bargaining committee. Get the skills you need to be part of it!
