CAW Local 252 members who work at Mississauga Toyota have been on strike for 10 weeks with the dealership continuing to demand major concessions from this small group of workers.

A solidarity plant gate collection is planned by Local 112 at the nearby Bombardier plant for the week of August 11.

The 18 CAW members on strike at Mississauga Toyota, located west of Toronto, are fighting company demands for concessions that include; two-tier wages, a two-tier benefit package, co-payment of premiums and reduction of re-imbursement of benefits, elimination of the guarantee of hours for flat-rated classifications such as mechanics and cleaners.

"Removal of the guarantee of hours will not only penalize mechanics and cleaners but will also further create an atmosphere of favouritism in the distribution of work," said CAW national representative Sukhvinder Johl.

"Our members are absolutely determined to fight this dealership's demands and win a fair agreement," he said. Picket line support is urgently needed Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 7pm.
